The international guidance standard for social responsibility — the subject matter framework behind every credible CSR strategy, GRI sustainability report, and ESG disclosure in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

ISO 26000 is the most comprehensive international framework for corporate social responsibility. Unlike most ISO standards, it is not certifiable — it is guidance that provides the principles, subjects, and practical guidance for identifying and managing social responsibility issues. Its value is as a recognised framework that connects to GRI Standards, TCFD, and ESG reporting frameworks, and as the conceptual foundation behind UAE Cabinet Resolution No. 30/2018 on CSR and Dubai's mandatory CSR law.

In the UAE, social responsibility has moved from philanthropy to legal obligation. Cabinet Resolution No. 30/2018 established national CSR requirements. Dubai Law No. 3/2014 created specific Dubai obligations with the Dubai CSR Authority as enforcement mechanism. ADNOC's ICV programme is social responsibility embedded in commercial requirements. ISO 26000 provides the internationally recognised framework through which all of these obligations are addressed systematically.

✦ Not Certifiable: ISO 26000 explicitly states it is not for certification purposes. Third-party claims of ISO 26000 certification are not valid. Organisations implement ISO 26000 to structure their CSR programme and report alignment — not to obtain a certificate.
