ISO / IEC 17020:2012 | Certification & Consultancy
Any organization wishing to conduct inspections for businesses, clients, or authorities must adhere to the ISO/IEC 17020:2012 Standard for Conformity Assessment.
The standard covers all tasks carried out by an inspection body, such as inspecting goods, installations, plants, processes, and services to assess their conformity and to report findings. The ISO/IEC 17020:2012 standard can be used as a necessary or screening document of accreditation for any entity intending to perform inspections. Conducting inspections requires a certain level of professional judgment and competence.
It is applicable to all inspection stages and to inspection bodies of types A, B, or C as described in ISO/IEC 17020:2012. As testing, certification, and inspections all involve the same elements, they frequently overlap. However, inspections call for a certain level of expertise and professional judgment in order to assess acceptability in relation to general requirements.
