AS9110 | Aerospace Management Standard
The International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) created AS9110 in response to the growing demand for additional specifications that address safety, dependability, and airworthiness issues unique to MRO. AS9110 offers new criteria for the maintenance and repair of private, commercial, and military aircraft considering the surge in outsourcing activities to vendors with occasionally limited experience in the aerospace industry.
This standard, which is based on the ISO 9001 quality management system, is complementary to AS9100 and specifies additional civil and military aviation maintenance and continuing airworthiness industry requirements, definitions, and notes.
Nearly 100 requirements are outlined in AS9110 for suppliers, airline companies, aerospace OEMs, FAA-certified repair facilities, and regulatory organizations. By concentrating on identifying essential processes and achieving continuous improvement, AS9110 adopts a process-based approach.
Although this standard was primarily created for organizations in the civil and military aviation industries that offer maintenance services, it can also be applied to other industry sectors when a quality management system that has more requirements than an ISO 9001:2015 system is required.
